Kaley Bass of Davenport Captures 5th Round Of Barrel Racing in Vegas Rodeo

Kaley Bass of Davenport won the fifth round in the barrel racing competition at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas on Monday night.
Bass earned $18,257 with the first-place finish, and leads the standings after six of 10 rounds with a total of about $30,600 in the Pro Rodeo championship.
Bass, at 19 the youngest competitor in all the different events, followed the win with a fourth-place finish in Round 6 to win $7,656.25 riding her 12-year-old horse, Wonders Cowboy Dan.
A first-time Finals qualifier, Bass started slowly, not placing in the first three rounds. But she took fifth in Round 4 to pocket $4,711.54, then won Round 5 and placed in Round 6 to move to the top of the standings with four rounds left.
There are 10 rounds, and Saturday is the final day.
